According to new data announced by the State Bank, the total assets of the credit institution system by the end of 2023 reached over 20,073 million billion VND, an increase of 9.83% compared to the end of 2022. Previously, the total assets The system's assets by the end of September only reached nearly 18,903 million billion VND. Thus, in the fourth quarter alone, the system's total assets increased by nearly 1.17 million billion VND - the highest quarterly increase in recent years.





Total system assets increased sharply in the last 3 months of the year compatible with the expansion speed of outstanding credit debt. Data from the State Bank shows that credit growth across the economy by the end of December 2023 will reach 13.71%, corresponding to the scale of increased outstanding debt in 2023 of more than 1,634 million billion VND. In particular, the scale of additional outstanding debt in the fourth quarter reached nearly 805,000 billion VND, accounting for nearly half of the increase for the whole year 2023. This is the highest credit growth in the fourth quarter in recent years and is a high level. largest in history in terms of scale.




By the end of 2023, the group of commercial banks has total assets of more than 17,313 million billion, accounting for 86.25% of the total assets of the entire system of credit institutions. In particular, the total assets of the State-owned commercial bank group (Agribank, BIDV, VietinBank, Vietcombank, CBBank, GP Bank, OceanBank) reached more than 8,326 million billion VND, an increase of 8.43% compared to the end of 2022. of the above, the total assets of the group of State-owned commercial banks currently account for 41.5% of the total assets of the entire system and 48% of the total assets of commercial banks.





By the end of 2023, the total assets of the Joint Stock commercial banking group will be nearly 8,987 million billion VND, an increase of 12.33% compared to the end of 2022 and is the group with the largest total assets in the system.

The consolidated financial report for the fourth quarter of 2023 shows that BIDV continues to lead the system in terms of total assets with 2.3 million billion VND, an increase of 0.6% compared to the beginning of the year. The second position belongs to VietinBank with more than 2 million billion VND, an increase of 12.4%.








Agribank also recorded total assets exceeding the 2 million billion VND mark, however the exact number has not yet been announced. Vietcombank's asset scale ranked fourth with nearly 1.84 million billion VND, only a slight increase of 1.4% compared to the end of last year.




In the group of joint stock commercial banks, MB continues to lead with a scale of nearly 945,000 billion VND, an increase of 29.7% compared to the end of 2022. Behind Techcombank, VPBank, ACB, SHB and HDBank respectively.





The total charter capital of the system exceeds 1 million billion VND




By the end of December 2023, the total charter capital of the entire system of credit institutions reached nearly 1,003 million billion VND, an increase of 14.36% compared to the end of 2022. Of which, the charter capital of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank group is 542,566 billion VND. VND, an increase of 15.58% and accounting for more than half of the total charter capital of the entire system. The group of state-owned commercial banks has a total charter capital of 217,882 billion VND, an increase of 14.41%.





In 2023, the State Bank has issued a document approving the increase in charter capital for 21 joint stock commercial banks, mainly from the bank's equity capital (retained profits and reserve funds). ). Approved banks include: HDBank, MB, SeABank, ACB, VIB, TPBank, LPBank, BacABank, VietABank, VietBank, Techcombank, Eximbank, OCB, ABBank, SHB, BVBank, MSB, KienLongBank, NamABank, NCB, VPBank .




In addition, the State Bank has also allowed state-owned commercial banks to increase charter capital such as VietinBank (+5,642 billion VND), BIDV (+6,419 billion VND), Agribank (+6,753 billion VND), Vietcombank (+8,566 billion VND) .





By the end of 2023, VPBank will be the bank with the highest charter capital, reaching nearly 80,000 billion VND and far ahead of the remaining banks in the system.




BIDV - the bank with the second highest charter capital, recorded at more than 57,000 billion VND. Behind are Vietcombank (55,891 billion VND), VietinBank (53,700 billion VND), MB (52,141 billion VND) and Agribank (41,000 billion VND).
